Inditex-owned homewear brand Zara Home is arriving to South Africa with an inaugural store in Johannesburg, set to launch in the coming weeks.

The opening is part of the retailer’s global expansion plan, which has seen a raft of new stores open in the last months. In December the Spanish group announced the launch of the 500th Zara Home store in Sydney, Australia, marking also the first location in the city and second in the country.

Zara Home has also recently become the first Inditex brand to launch localised e-commerce operations for the Southern Hemisphere.

The label devoted to the latest trends in homewear and home décor was founded in 2003 and has quickly grown into an internationally-recognized brand with 500 stores in 62 markets. It currently sells its products online in 22 countries and has more than 3,500 employees.

In 2015 Zara Home was the fastest growing brand in Inditex’s portfolio, with revenue of 666 million euros, up 21.5% compared to the previous year.
