French Connection taps Gap design VP for director role

Maria Chen, who was the Gap VIce President of Global Design from 2013 to 2015, is set to move instead to British high street retailer French Connection. She has been made its new Womenswear Director, reported Drapers.

Chen's leaving date from Gap hasn't been confirmed. Previous to working for Gap, she was Vice President of Global Design for Calvin Klein Jeans from 2012 to 2013, and Vice President of Women’s Product for Armani Exchange from 2009 to 2012.

Chen is currently US-based but has worked in London before, for Gap, All Saints, Oki-Ni and Topshop. She also previously had her own premium lifestyle brand. Her start date at French Connection has not yet been disclosed.

French Connection saw losses widen to £7.9m for the six months to July 31, 2015.
