Swatch opens St Pancras pop-up, offers 240 styles with quick and easy shopping

Railway station retail is entering something of a golden age in the UK as developments such as changes at London Bridge Station and the massive investment around King's Cross add to a generally more thoughtful approach to the kind of retailers considered as tenants for Britain's leading stations.

And St Pancras Station, next door to King's Cross, hasn't been left out of the development that has been happening in the area.

The latest news is that Swiss fashion and lifestyle watch brand Swatch has opened its first pop-up store in the Grand Concourse at the station. The opening comes at a time when fashion watches are seeing something of a recovery and also as visitor traffic through London's railway station continues to expand fast.

St Pancras is actually one of the busiest stations in Europe and as many as one million commuters pass through it every week.

It makes sense for Swatch to target commuters, shoppers and tourists in an environment where it will stand out. But its kiosk in the station also reflects the fact that many passers-by are in a hurry so it's offering over 240 different styles, including its kids brand Flik Flak, in a space that’s quick-to-shop and very approachable.

It's a significant move too when you consider that Swatch has only 12 standalone stores across the UK.
