As materials including wool, angora and mohair continue to come under scrutiny from anti-cruelty groups, Mohair South Africa has boosted its commitment to sustainable mohair by linking with traceability firm Oritain.
Luxury brand Mulberry has confirmed a ban on exotic skins in all its future collections. It’s now no longer using the skins of alligators, crocodiles, ostriches, lizards and snakes, as well as having a fur-free policy.
After banning the use of fur, the labels owned by the SMCP fashion group decided to also stop using reptile leather in their products, following the example of Chanel, Paul Smith and others, said the PETA association.
