Trending words pale, unadorned and humble have been used to describe the over arching trend of natural materials that will come back to the fore over the next couple of seasons. Gone are the heavily lacquered more showy pieces of the last few years and in their place woods, copper, ecologically mindful designs and citrus brights will reign.

Rather than pale and plain, think naturally quirky with materials such as cork, grass cloth and rough wood creating unique patterns in a muted palette - perfect for walls, floors and essential furniture. Coupled with the eco greens, blues and citrus brights the look starts to pull together, finished with reflective, earth tone metals.

Over the next few months the look will evolve from autumnal quilted comforts to spring time glass and fabrics. Whilst the best part of this trend is that it slots easily into your home with just some simple updates with flashes of coloured accessories and large scale floor coverings. Be playful and try out your own mixture as eco and rough luxe seem to be sticking around for a while…
