first off, new york. the snowstorm that hit the big apple seems to be found on the catwalk, within each show are total looks in pristine white. leather, worked in a more flexible way, becomes the ultimate material. the city remains the official source of inspiration and its lines are found on garments with a sportswear trend. not forgetting the beautiful proposals of ball gowns by the big american designers.
in london, colors ignite. bright shades are showcased and notably burgundy-red, a true star of the london shows. the english designers also give way to prints, still as original as ever. each one proposed their own version and there’s something for everyone. finally the unstructured appearance, different lengths, additions of strips or tails of fabric attract the eye in many shows.
in milan, fur is queen. it’s found everywhere, of course on coats, on sweaters, skirts, boots, accessories and even hair. skirts and dresses lengthen to define a new popular length at the knee, worn elegantly for a very sensual look. finally checks take over. british or scottish atmosphere, there’s no doubt that the milanese designers are inspired by the legendary tartan.
in paris. maxi-coats appear in the majority of shows. enveloping, comfortable, made in rather rounded shapes and luxurious materials, the xxl coat seems to have everything going for it. the masculine / feminine mix has never been so popular, designers take over the suit and work it in new ways. in contrast to milan, paris lets loose for next winter with many proposals of mini-skirts, in a rock’n’roll or more jolie mademoiselle way, it’s time to show the legs. a nod to the pyjama outfit which remains very chic for next season.
