Tel aviv is a city in israel, full of promises and happy surprises. this is the case with the label maskit which showed in the surroundings of tel aviv fashion week. the opportunity to dwell on this brand distributed internationally, became the label which represents israel the most (and which has recently even dressed michelle obama) founded in 1954 by ruth dayan, is today 97 years old! the next generation is sharon tal, 34 years old, who took over the creative reins, after working with alber elbaz at lanvin and alexander mc queen.the label is always inspired by the country’s culture, with a pure, modern wardrobe and emblematic pieces revisited like the egg coat, photographed in the 60s. in 1970, the house collaborates with french houses like givenchy, dior, or yves saint laurent. a fashion made locally in the tel aviv ateliers and embroidery made by hand. the last collection was inspired by the dead sea and the desert road, with precise cuts, quality materials and exclusive prints. a label to follow which mixes modernity and tradition with talent. interview with sharon tal :i just really wanted to hear how she would define maskit so i called her and asked for a meeting, i expected to be there for an hour but i left after eight hours. we had a really successful fashion house all the celebrities all over the world used to wear maskit and why not do it again.for a year and a half we only did research, i was travelling all over israel with her and i met people who used to work with maskit. mcqueen was the opposite way it was really stressful and crazy but it had its magic despite the stress, i learnt how to work under pressure and with a lot of other people.it’s just about something special coming from israel, but it’s chic, it’s fun, it’s comfortable, it’s quality, it’s fashion. music from the show (only to be used in the context of the show, protected by the right to information.)
